Damar Hamlin And The Power Of Prayer

Damar Hamlin And The Power Of Prayer

When Buffalo Bills Safety Damar Hamlin suffered a life-threatening injury during a recent Monday Night Football game, an incredible shift in the culture took place almost immediately. Nearly everyone in the stadium began praying. Christian commentators prayed on live television. Millions of people were seeing the power of prayer unfold in real time. Now, with such excellent medical care and much prayer, Damar has been cleared to go home. It seems that through all of this God has reminded us to never forget how powerful it is when we call on the name of Jesus. He still does miracles today. Now that’s something to pray about!

Commemorating Our 100th Prayer Point

Commemorating Our 100th Prayer Point

This week marks our 100th Prayer Point segment. It feels like I just learned the ropes here at the studio to begin producing them, and a couple of years has gone by just like that. To commemorate this milestone, I’d like to take a moment to thank you for not only listening, but for all the times you’ve prayed. The goal of Prayer Point is ultimately to inspire each and every listener to grow a bit more in the ability to pray. We serve such an extraordinary God who listens to His people attentively—people just like me and you. So, once again, thanks for listening and thanks for praying. I believe God turns our little prayers into big answers, and I look forward to sharing the next 100 Prayer Point segments with you. Now that’s something to pray about!

Wisdom And Revelation

Wisdom And Revelation

I like to begin each year focused on asking God for wisdom to navigate the year ahead. I love Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 1:17 where he prays that God the Father would grant believers in Ephesus with “the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of (Jesus Christ).” I’m not sure if there’s a better prayer that we can lift up for ourselves and for the broader body of Christ right now than asking our heavenly Father for wisdom, and that Christ would be revealed to us in greater ways. As we enter embark on a new year, let me encourage you to make Paul’s prayer into your prayer. Our loving Father delights in granting the wisdom we need, and eyes to see His Son more clearly. Now that’s something to pray about!

Prayer Resolution 2023

Prayer Resolution 2023

With all the Christmas presents opened, many are now focused on New Year’s resolutions. While things like exercising more or going on a diet are good for us physically, I can think of nothing better for us spiritually than a prayer resolution for 2023. Take some time this week to ask God to help you maintain a consistent prayer life throughout the coming year. Plan out what parts of your day and week can be devoted to drawing near to Jesus. In fact, consider participating in a regular prayer gathering. The upcoming Central Illinois School of Prayer semester is something to consider as well. Let’s look to 2023 with eyes of faith. God is faithful to draw near to us when we draw near to Him. Now that’s something to pray about!

Prayer Is Taught And Caught

Prayer Is Taught And Caught

“Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, ‘Lord, teach us to pray…’” (Luke 11:1). Perhaps the wisest request the disciples ever made of Jesus was this one we just heard here in the first verse of Luke chapter 11. Simply put, prayer is something we must learn. It’s part caught, and part taught. If you’ve been thinking about developing in your prayer life, I’d like to invite you to look into the Central Illinois School of Prayer. We’re offering a January mini-mester after the holidays to work on strengthening your devotional prayer life. Head to gphop.org/school for more information. Now that’s something to pray about!
