“God, I know you are real because you answered my prayer.” That’s what one woman who recently began attending our prayer services at the Greater Peoria House of Prayer began her prayer with. Just the night before, she and my wife Mandy had prayed about a difficult family situation—her son was not speaking to her. After lifting up this request, however, God—who loves to bring restoration—came through not even 24 hours later. This hurting mom now knows how real God is because He heard and answered the cry of her heart. Friend, whatever breakthrough you may need, be sure to pray—and keep on praying. God is the God of breakthrough. He will do it. Now that’s something to pray about!

Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day

My wife Mandy is the mother of five children ages two through twelve. As we celebrate mothers this weekend—and rightly so—I thought it would be best if you heard from her this week. “Moms, I want you to know today that you are amazing. By loving your kids, you are serving Jesus. Sometimes what you do can seem hidden, but God sees all you do, and it moves His heart when you serve in secret. I bless you today and pray that you feel the smile of your heavenly Father as you continue to raise up the next generation of youth to love and serve Him above all else. I hope you enjoy your special day this weekend. Happy Mother’s Day. Now that’s something to pray about!

Rees Howells

If you’ve taken an interest in books on prayer, chances are you’ve come across the name Rees Howells. Brother Howells, who was born in the late 19th century, served as a missionary in Africa and started a Bible college in Wales—his birthplace. Although well-known for these important ministries, Howells is best known for his prayer ministry. In the years leading up to World War 2, he said, “The world became our parish and we were led to be responsible to intercede for countries and nations.” As turbulence in the nations increases, I believe more and more Christians are going to sense a similar call to prayer. Be sure to answer that call. As with Rees Howells, your intercession can make a world of difference. Now that’s something to pray about!

Over the last couple of years, while working on Prayer Point and other projects, I’ve had the privilege of getting to know the staff at WBNH. Jim, Keith, Daniel and Carla are not only wonderful people and Christians, but truly dedicated to the mission of bringing distinctly Christian radio to central Illinois. This week during Share 2022, WBNH could use your support to continue this vital ministry—a ministry that is 100 percent listener-supported by folks just like you. Your financial contribution ensures that thousands of people throughout central Illinois continue to hear about Jesus Christ. Thank you for prayerfully considering a gift to such a wonderful ministry. Now that’s something to pray about!

Good Friday

Good Friday

Easter weekend is a special time to remember Jesus’ death on the cross, and His resurrection three days later. Just before He died on that first Good Friday, Jesus spoke a prayer from Luke 23:34: “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” While in the most physical and spiritual pain of His life, His heart was to pray for the forgiveness of those who had harmed Him. This week, as you think about the cross, think also of Jesus’ prayer. Though you may be upset because others have hurt you, choose to forgive. Few things cause the world to see Jesus more than when we forgive from the heart those who have caused us pain. Now that’s something to pray about!
