Prayer For Students

School is back in full swing for many families, teachers, administrators and of course students. This week, let’s pray for all those working in education, and especially for the children who will be learning. God has laid on my heart for many years for a great revival to come to schools throughout central Illinois. What would it look like if hundreds or thousands of students in our area met Jesus in a real and life-changing way while in grade school, high school or college? Sometimes we forget these are the leaders, doctors, engineers, firefighters, politicians and educators of tomorrow. Let’s pray the Holy Spirit of God moves in a powerful way this year so that many grow as followers of Christ with God as number one in their life. Now that’s something to pray about!

The Ultimate Influencer

It seems that everywhere you look on social media or television, there’s an influencer trying to get people to think a certain way or buy a particular product. This idea of being an influence has certainly taken off in recent years. It makes me think of how we as Christians are called to be the ultimate influencers in prayer. After all, we get the honor and privilege of coming before the God of the universe and asking Him in prayer to do things that could not otherwise be done. Remember, you get to influence the most powerful Person in the universe by your prayers, even if nobody else sees or hears you. How amazing is that? Let’s be sure to talk to Him all the more. Now that’s something to pray about!

George Washington Carver And God Ideas

I love this quote by George Washington Carver who is considered to be the father of the peanut industry: “When I was young, I said to God, ‘God, tell me the mystery of the universe.’ But God answered, ‘That knowledge is for me alone.’ So I said, ‘God, tell me the mystery of the peanut.’ Then God said, ‘Well George, that’s more nearly your size.’ And he told me.” Carver went on to discover hundreds of uses for the peanut. So, what’s this have to do with us? Today, my encouragement is to pray for a God idea. Far more than a good idea, a God idea can change the world. Ask Him for your “peanut idea” so to speak. You may be shocked by how much God shows you. Now that’s something to pray about!

Considering The Power Of Prayer

I recently had a conversation with my dad, and he said something really interesting. He said that when He gets to ask his first question in Heaven, he’s going to ask God how powerful prayer really was. What a thought. I imagine the Lord may have a big grin, and show all the times the seemingly weakest, briefest prayers actually moved His hand. Perhaps He will show us all the times things shifted in our life, and even around the world, as a result of our prayers. The more I ponder how the whole interaction may unfold, I’m left with one conclusion: I think we’re going to learn that it was far more powerful than we ever imagined, and that we should have done it so much more. So let’s keep at it. Now that’s something to pray about!

Pray Until You Feel Like Praying

Pray Until You Feel Like Praying

Pray until you feel like praying. That’s some of the best advice I can give anyone who wants to learn how to become more consistent in their prayer life. Often, what keeps people away from meaningful time alone in that secret place of prayer and study is the lack of desire. An analogy I use is that of a workout. I rarely feel like working out before I do, but after I do, I’m so glad I broke a sweat, and my feelings eventually agree. If you make consistent choices to pray despite what you may feel like, you will eventually reap the results—and the joy—of a closer relationship with God. Now that’s something to pray about!
