Prayer Point 07 - March 15, 2021

Luke 10:41-42 reads like this: “…Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part” (Luke 10:41-42). Although having the heart of a servant is one of the most vital expressions of our Christian faith, there is one still greater. This is what Jesus tried to help Martha understand. She was doing a good thing by keeping up with all the routine household activities, but while neglecting the best thing. Friends, let’s reprioritize this one thing the Lord commended Mary for, which is regularly spending quality time with Jesus. Find a quiet spot today if you can, open the Scriptures and let Him speak to you through them. Now that’s something to pray about!

Prayer Point 06 - March 8, 2021

Paul prayed that the Christians in Ephesus would be able to comprehend the “width and length and depth and height“ of the love of Christ. I find that passage in Ephesians 3:18-19 to be an amazing description of how vast God’s love is. You know, having served in church leadership for many years, it’s not uncommon for me to talk to people who feel like God is mostly mad at them, or sadly disappointed in them for some reason. The truth is, though, that He could not be more in love with us. He went to the cross to prove it. Friend, just remember today that when you lift your voice in prayer, God smiles with loving delight. You are His beloved child. Now that’s something to pray about!

Prayer Point 05 - March 1, 2021

Romans 8:26 tells us that “the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought” (Romans 8:26). Do you ever feel like your prayers are just too weak, and that you barely even know what to pray for? It’s hard enough to find time alone to sit quietly and open the Bible—especially if you have young children like my wife and I. The good news today is that God knew we would all struggle to some degree in our prayer life. He gave us His Holy Spirit to provide the strength we need. So keep trying to pray. You might just find what I have often found—that He answers us even in our weakest moments. Now that’s something to pray about!

Prayer Point 04 - February 22, 2021

“‘Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail...’” (Luke 22:31-32). Jesus knew that Peter was going to deny Him. But what He wanted Peter to know was that He had his back in prayer. How reassuring! The same God who knows you and I are going to fail Him at times—because we all do—also covers us His prayers. Friend, no matter how weak you may feel your faith is today, always know that Jesus is in Heaven praying for you. Consider taking a moment today to thank Him for not only saving you, but carrying you to the end with His fervent intercession. Now that’s something to pray about!

Prayer Point 03 - February 15, 2021

“The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” Do you ever feel like there are so many needs in the world, and that you can do so little about them? I feel that way at times. But I think Jesus anticipated this internal dilemma we often experience. His exhortation, when we feel so incapable of effecting meaningful change in our world for the glory of God, is to simply begin with prayer. He encourages us to ask Him to send people who will work in the harvest fields. What I have noticed after many years of prayer meetings is that, as we do, He often makes us those very people. Friends, that’s something to pray about!
