“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.” In his first letter to Timothy, the apostle Paul wrote that we should use every kind of prayer to lift up others, including those who serve in the government. Interestingly, Paul notes that this leads to peace and quiet in our lives. There’s something about praying for those in local, state and federal positions of political authority that frees our heart.
